Attorney Amanda Gennerman received her B.A. from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a dual degree in Women’s Studies and Afro-American Studies.

She then attended the University of Denver College of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2003.  While in law school she was the lead student attorney on an asylum case heard before the Executive Office of Immigration Review. She later interned with Joseph Law Firm in Denver, CO- a practice dedicated to the rights of immigrants and has extensive experience with immigration litigation.  Upon graduating, Amanda returned to Wisconsin to open her own practice.  She began taking private bar cases through the Dane County Public Defenders Office.  She informed the public defenders of her unique specialization as it pertained to non-citizen defendants.  To this day she is often contacted to provide analysis to the court and counsel on immigration consequences of criminal convictions.

Attorney Gennerman has been in private practice since 2003 and recently joined with Attorney Sarah Mazzie-Briscoe to create the Gennerman Mazzie-Briscoe Law Group. Their immigration practice focuses on family-based petitions, permanent resident applications, citizenship and naturalization, non-citizen criminal defense and domestic abuse petitions. They represent clients before the Milwaukee Field Office of Citizenship and Immigration Services.  Attorney Gennerman has also been successful with litigation in both the Eastern and Western District Courts of Wisconsin and Immigration Court in Chicago.

In addition to her law practice, Attorney Gennerman has given multiple presentations to various organizations, community groups and professional colleagues on immigration issues.  She has guest lectured at the University of Wisconsin Law School and has most recently taught the course “Women and the Law” in the undergraduate department of the University of Wisconsin.

In 2006, 2008, & 2009 she was voted a Rising Star Attorney of Wisconsin lawyers for immigration law. She is a Member of National Immigrant Project of National Lawyers Guild.

Attorney Sarah Mazzie-Briscoe attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for her undergraduate education.  She attained a Bachelor of Science in Women’s Studies and African Studies in 2002.

After spending a year in Estes Park, Colorado, Attorney Sarah Mazzie-Briscoe returned to the Midwest to attend law school at DePaul College of Law in Chicago, Illinois.  As a law student, Attorney Sarah Mazzie-Briscoe spent a year as a student representative at the Immigration & Asylum Clinic.  At the Clinic, she represented several clients in various immigration proceedings.  She attained her J.D. in 2006.

After her stint at the Clinic, Attorney Mazzie-Briscoe joined the Law Offices of Susan Fortino-Brown, an immigration focused boutique firm in Chicago’s South Loop.  As a law clerk, Attorney Mazzie-Briscoe represented clients in removal/deportation proceedings, asylum applications and proceedings, family-based and employment-based immigration applications and consular processing.

Attorney Sarah Mazzie-Briscoe relocated to Madison in 2006.  She was employed as the Immigration Attorney with the Immigrant Project of the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence and as an Associate Attorney Sipsma, Hahn & Brophy, LLC.  At both places of employment, she continued developing her skills as an immigration attorney and gained valuable experience in family law.
